Songwriting Retreat Texas: Come Write Something True

Three days deep in the Texas forest with Tatiana Schallert — The Love Faery — and Delady DJ. Not a music class. Not a workshop. A remembering.

No musical experience needed. This retreat is open to musicians and complete beginners alike. If you feel called to reconnect with your inner artist, immerse in nature, and build meaningful community — you belong here.

What Makes This Retreat Different

Voice activation — Tatiana's own term for the practice of releasing the physical, emotional, and energetic blocks that keep a voice from moving freely. Songwriting. Sound journeys. Ceremonial cacao. Music production. Morning movement. A closing fire ceremony. All of it, woven together.

Voice activation isn't about hitting the right notes. It's about releasing whatever has been holding your voice back — physical tension, an old emotional block, the residue of being told to be quiet — until it can move freely again. It's an artistic and spiritual practice, not a clinical one, and most guests are surprised by what actually comes out once those blocks start to loosen.

Whether you've been singing your whole life or you've been told you can't sing at all, there's something here for you. You don't need experience. You need a willingness to show up.

  • Morning movement — gentle practice to ground you for each day of creative flow.
  • Ceremonial Cacao Journey — cacao sourced directly from indigenous growers, used to open the heart and deepen connection.

The Setting

Past retreats have gathered at Lost Forest Cabins in Richard, Texas — two private cabins tucked among the trees, each sleeping up to six guests across bunk beds and a king bed. It's the kind of stillness that's hard to find in daily life: no city noise, no errands, just trees in every direction and space to breathe, create, and reconnect. The exact venue for the next retreat is confirmed with registration.

The Shape of a Songwriting Retreat in Texas

There's no rigid schedule handed out in advance, but a retreat generally holds its own rhythm: mornings open gently, with movement to ground the body before the day's creative work begins. The two workshops — voice activation and songwriting with Tatiana, music production and live looping with Delady DJ — carry the middle of each day, with the guided sound journey woven in for rest. And every retreat closes the same way: gathered around the fire, singing what's been written and sharing what surfaced.

Meet Your Facilitators

Tatiana Schallert, The Love Faery

Spiritual pop artist, voice coach, and creative guide with over 25 years in music, teaching, and creative expression. She leads voice activation journeys and the closing song circle around the fire. In her own words: “Your voice has been waiting for you to come home.” During the retreat, she also walks each guest through authentic vocal expression exercises — not performance technique, just what it sounds like to stop holding back.

Delady DJ

DJ, producer, and community builder with over 10 years in the music industry, known for shamanic downtempo and tribal soundscapes. She leads home studio basics, recording fundamentals, song structure, and live looping. Her focus is hands-on — by the end, guests leave understanding their own recording setup, not just watching hers.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Music Creation Retreat?

A multi-day, in-person retreat blending songwriting, voice activation, live looping, and a closing fire ceremony.

What's included in the price?

Facilitation, lodging, meals, and materials are confirmed in full at registration, listed here before you book.

What's the cancellation and refund policy?

A full written policy is provided and must be agreed to before payment, covering deadlines, transfers, and what happens if the retreat itself is cancelled.

Is this only for professional musicians?

Not at all — it's built for anyone ready to write and finish a real song in a small, supportive group.

Do I need musical experience to attend?

Not at all. This retreat was designed for both musicians and complete beginners — you just need to be willing.

What is ceremonial cacao, and is it safe?

It's pure, minimally processed cacao sourced directly from indigenous growers — not the same as chocolate, and generally well-tolerated, though we recommend talking with your healthcare provider first if you have a heart condition or take medications.

What is a sound journey?

An immersive experience using instruments, voice, and sound to guide you into a state of rest and quiet — a space to slow down, not a medical treatment.

Is this a faith-based retreat?

Yes, and no both fit: there's real spirituality in how Tatiana and Delady hold this retreat, and it's genuinely open to people of every background and belief. Come as you are — nobody's asked to sign onto anything.

How many people attend?

Retreats are kept intentionally small by design — the last documented cycle capped enrollment in the low teens — because a small group means real time with Tatiana and Delady, not a crowd. The confirmed cap for the next cycle is shared at registration.
